Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley Is Housing an Owned Cat Evacuation Site

In response to evacuations from the Line Fire and Bridge Fire- San Bernardino, the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley (HSSBV) will open on Wednesday, September 11th to house owned cats from the evacuation and warning areas. At this time, the HSSBV is accepting cats only, with plans to open up to dogs as well in the coming days.
Drop off of owned cats displaced from the Line or Bridge SB Fire will be Monday – Friday from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm only. Please bring your cat in an appropriate carrier, along with your government issued photo ID and cat’s vaccination records. Check in will begin at the table in front of the HSSBV Veterinary Clinic Cat Entrance. Given the weather and air quality issues, as well as traffic from our regular veterinary clinic which will still remain open, we ask that you do not line up in advance of these hours. Boarding will only be available until October 1st.
We ask that only healthy and stable cats be dropped off for this temporary boarding. Cats who need multiple doses of medication daily cannot be accommodated. All cats will be fed, however, if you have special food your pet needs, this can be dropped off at check in as well (refrigerated food is okay, but no raw diet food). Please no personal items (toys, blankets, collars, etc.).
Visitation hours for family members whose cats are staying at the HSSBV will be Monday-Friday from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Information on this process will be given at check in.
At this time, the HSSBV is requesting the following donations to support this evacuation site: cat food, litter, dog food, cat food covers, HE laundry detergent, newspaper, and bottled water. There will also be a full Amazon Wish List posted on the HSSBV social media channels. Donations can be dropped off Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the HSSBV Administrative Office.
